Added 5 2.2-races from Turkey and some more national events (Richmond GP, Taiwan Cup, ...). There are 530 races in the database at the moment. Also added two more teams (Manisaspor and Kolss) and a bunch of scoutable talents.

Just to let you know what has happened the last days:

  1. (Provisionally) added two more teams along with the African CCC: Equipe Nationale du Maroc and Eritrean National Cycling Team (tests going on, really want to see how they behave on transfers for 2012...)

Haha, that's cool, by coincidence I just met a rider from the national team of Eritrea here in Belgium today, he was training with the "talenschool" that Quick.Step is holding here this week. Any news on the transfers of these national teams ingame?

Cool that you added Manisaspor btw, that's a more then decent squad and usefull for filling the Balkanraces, next to the races in their homecountry offcourse!

Do you plan to also expand the South-American part of this db with some extras?

I'm going trough the riderlist you posted here, correcting stats of some smaller riders. You'll get a pm as soon as I'm finished. The matrix as well as the stats itself are looking very good, only some polishing needed Wink

Not yet, didn't have much time to spend on testing the last days. Seems like I'll have to postpone this to next week.

That's why they've got added Smile Btw: Left Valjavec out as it seems he's now banned after all...

Well, thought of it. But didn't find a good way how to. Clube Dataro is the only UCI-registered team left that's missing, but I don't see them performing in races outside Brazil much. Maybe to break the rule of "No club and national teams" once again? If so, which team to add? Maybe GW Shimano? Or even a national team from Venezuela?

Or should we stick to the rules and just add more races (and Clube Dataro) and fill them with the available South American teams?

I'd be pleased with any suggested corrections.

I think that when you decide to add extra races from that continent, you'll definitely need more teams to fill them. There are only five South-American teams in now if I count right, and that's not really much to fill a whole year of South-American racing, is it? Wink If you decide to add extra races (for this db or a possible later version) I would advise you to indeed add a team like GW-Shimano, Loteria de Boyaca (both do several races abroad), Gobernación del Zulia (to have a hometeam for all the Venezuelan races), that Brasilian Clube Dataro and maybe a second Venezolan team like Loteria de Tachira. If the test with the national teams is succesfull, you could also add the national team from Cuba to at least have one team from Middle-America.

That rule to have no clubs or national selections is easy to follow as long as there are no 1.2/2.2/NE-races, but at that level it becomes a bit hard to have some realism without these teams, for sure in South-America, Africa and Europe Wink But it's okay too however that in this phase you don't want to go too far with including these tinny teams, you have to draw a line somewhere!

Totally agree. But for the moment I think we should skip the South American part as we already got this "African circuit feature" in the database and for not to exceed limits we should leave the South American part out. Maybe to add some more African races (and teams?) to have a descent program there and stick to the UCI-registered teams and events everywhere else (except national series races of the "bigger" countries of course).

So, what happened since yesterday is that I added some more races from the US, German and Australian calender (Merco Classic, Tour de Grove, Westfalen-Preis, Launceston to New Norfolk, ...). Now to add the Challenge Marche Verte 1.2-races (going to move them to September as suggested by Fus) and maybe 1-2 more teams (Exergy, Ringeriks-Kraft, Telnet-Fidea and Subway are those to be chosen from - suggestions?).

I really think we should make a cut when reaching ~550 races / ~160 teams as there is plenty of other work to do before the whole thing is ready to be released. The whole graphics and stage profile part needs plenty of work - I've seen some not-working stages during my last tests that forced crashes, as well as (many) non-existent team acessories and on.

Maybe Exergy and Subway? Exergy is usefull for the very big load of American races and in fact also usable for races in Colombia and so (since they have 2 Colombians), while Subway can be used to give the many NZL/Australian races another team.

Ringeriks-Kraft almost never race outside Scandinavia so go with Sisses suggestion.
Good to see this moving forward in a steady pace and that you prioritize the work with sense

I have a question (actually more related to stage-building):
How should we deal with the Strade Bianche?

Basically there are two options:
1) make them cobble sections
2) leave them as normal road

The disadvantage of turning them into cobbles is that the cobble specialists might reign supreme - and they didn't actually do that on the Orvieto stage, or last year's stage to Montalcino.
The disadvantage of leaving them as normal road is that it would be "just another stage", with no special feel about it.
Opinions?

I would really prefer to have it in a cobbled version.

As a kind of reminder if you decide to expand the South American scene: Empresa De Energia Boyaca Ebsa has a very good and cool team and races all over South America.

Strade Bianchi = cobbles if you ask me

I guess it's settled then.
I prefer making it cobbles too, but I got the stage from Hermi without the cobbles, making me ask.
With cobbles it will be! And what an interesting gameplay it could bring...

Finally decided to add Team Exergy, Subway Cycling Team, Team Budget Forklifts and Clube Dataro de Ciclismo. This will be the last teams to be added for now. We've got 162 teams now in the database.

Also added some more Australian national series races and some missing 2.2-races, like Tour do Rio and Grand Prix of Adygeya. There are 551 races now in and I'd really like to stop adding new ones and go on with other parts of the project.

More infos to follow tomorrow.

Cool! 162 is allready an awfull lot and I think the calendar is pretty Giant allready Very Happy Will you update the teamlist and calendar on this forum now that you decided that these will not be expanded anymore? That way it's also handy for other forummembers to see where we can help with jerseys (I'll try my best to give you a hand here) and stages.

What are the next stops on your program?

I'll gonna do that tomorrow.

Testing, optimizing, add more free riders and do some graphics stuff (leadershirts, riderpics). For shirts, accessory packs and stages I hope to get further help from all of you guys who contributed so well to this project up to now.

Currently working on eliminating some minor errors (bad linked stages and graphics). Added 250+ free riders yesterday (like Cardenas, Edwin Parra, Jamieson, ...) and now going to verifying their stats.

Well, thinking of maybe adding more South American teams and races after a few hours of testing the database. Not for sure, but just found there are really too few South American teams for races like Vuelta a Colombia or Vuelta Chile and just too much great riders from this continent to not have them in the game.

Do you know any good resource sites (except this fortunecity/pedalaer site i already found) to get lineups and race programs for the above mentioned teams from?

On a side note is there a way to get StarForce working with Win7? During installation it says it isn't compatible with Win7.

If I remember correctly there's a patch from StarForce for Win7 available.

And thanks for the link to nuestrociclismo. That might help, although there are just lineups for the Colombian teams too (as on the site I mentioned before). Any link to other South American teams like Gob del Zulia?

These South-American teams are allways hard to find a complete roster for. In fact, their riders often jump teams during the year or ride as guest rider for several teams.

Found the following riders for the two beste Venezuelan teams in the Vuelta a Tachira and the 1.2-race later in the year. In two weeks the Vuelta a Venezuela is starting, maybe some extra riders from that teams will pop up (and could be added) then:

Gobierno de Zulia

Manuel Medina
Jose Alarcon (edit: but he's also registered with Movistar)
Jonathan Camargo
Juan Murillo
Noel Vasquez
Gil Cordovez
(Rujano rode for them in Tachira)

Loteria del Tachira

Tomas Gil
Ronald Gonzalez
Jose Contreras
Carlos Galvis (edit: but he's also registered with Movistar)
Carlos Becerra
Cesar Salazar
Miguel Ubeto
José Chacón
Freddy Vargas
Maky Román
Sebastián Anaya
Luis Henrique Díaz

Thanks a lot for this summary. Maybe we should really add some of those teams - we'll see. But for the moment testing things that are already in has highest priority.

Another Giro-stage-related question:
What to do with stage 14?
1) Crostis & Zoncolan, like originally planned
2) Tualis & Zoncolan, like rescheduled
3) only Zoncolan, as it was ridden
